2025 Audi Q2 Subcompact Crossover: What We Know So Far!. We still hope that the 2025 Audi Q2 will debut in the US market. Small and funky, the crossover drew the attention of European fans pretty rapidly. It’s been in the market for five years. Now, we can already expect some kind of an update. The redesign of the subcompact crossover is not the priority. Audi is working on electric vehicles and the E-Tron project is going to be the No1 for future updates. It leaves a tiny chance of Q2 happening in the US.
Three petrol configurations and two diesel units are available for the subcompact crossover. Compared to Q3, it is even smaller. It is more agile and fuel-friendlier than its older sibling. On the other hand, there is no power or performance editions. Still, the small SUV is good for starters and younger buyers.
The level of technology is at a high level. Well, the carmaker keeps the best features for high-end models. The S-Line is bringing the best from Q2. SE Sport are entry-level and mid-range configurations. Depending on the engine, buyers can choose between FWD and AWD (Quattro). Optional packages are also attractive, but these will make the price go up pretty rapidly. Finally, we expect the new generation of the infotainment system. Audi needs to focus on that if they want to stay competitive against Mercedes’ MBUX and BMW’s iDrive 7.0.
Diesel Engines
Oil-burners are still pretty popular in the European market. Many countries will offer a 1.6-liter or a 2.0-l displacement. Again, Audi engineers are enhancing outputs with turbochargers. In the first case, the powerplant is good for 114 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. Larger engines can do between 150 and 190 hp and 250-295 pound-feet. The most potent configuration will deliver a similar performance like the gasoline setup. Max speed is at the same level, while the oil-burner takes a bit more to hit 60 mph from a stop. Of course, the 2025 Audi Q2 will consume less diesel fuel. On the other hand, emissions will lead to the eventual discontinuation of this kind of powertrains.
Trim Levels, Variations
The new crossover is going to offer three standard trim levels. The base one is SE, the mid-range version is Sport, while the S Line is at the top of the lineup. All of them will support smartphone connectivity. Depending on the package, various advanced features are added and you are becoming eligible to upgrade the ride with even more accessories. The SQ2 is also available in some markets. This is the performance version. However, it is not creating crazy amount of power like its siblings. In China, buyers can find slightly larger model with L in the nameplate. This one is using the E-Tron technology. The electric vehicle covers a distance of 165 miles (265 km) and brings 100 kW/ 290 Nm to the table. Fans from other regions expect the same drivetrain in foreseeable future.
2025 Audi Q2 Specifications
The base setup for the 2025 Audi Q2 is based on a 1.0-liter turbocharged inline-three engine. The small crossover produces 115 horsepower, which is not such a bad result. Turbo setup helps the drivetrain delivering nearly 150 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and you can also pick a seven-speed DSG auto. A front-wheel drive is the only kind of configuration for the entry-level engine. Of course, you get the best fuel economy in the lineup.
If you choose a 1.4-liter model, the powerplant is good for 148 hp and 184 pound-feet of twisting power. This engine is also able to send energy to all wheels, deploying the famous Quattro system. A couple of transmission boxes is also there for a larger powerplant, which drops the 0-60 mph time to 8.5 seconds, properly equipped. It is 2 seconds faster than the crossover with a 1.0-l unit.
The most capable mill in the squad is a 2.0-liter turbo-four. Audi drops some options for this one, such as a manual gearbox or front-wheel drive. But, the largest petrol engine produces 190 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque. Converted to performance, this energy is good for 135 mph of max speed and the Q2 can stop the clock under 7 seconds when sprinting 0-60.
2025 Audi Q2 US Release Date
This is still questionable. The 2025 Audi Q2 is not registered for the US market yet. Ever since its release, fans are expecting to see the crossover, but Audi will rather add an electric powertrain to its lineup, or a full-size luxury SUV. The subcompact class is not too popular in this part of the world. All these facts are leading to the conclusion that Q2 might not be the perfect addition for the US market yet.
