The current generation has been around since 2017, and we recently saw a new version, with a larger battery and extended range. That has definitely made the Leaf more competitive in this fast-growing market, but there is more to come. Considering that the competition is getting tougher and tougher, it looks like 2025 Nissan Leaf will get a facelift. Those are the latest reports about this car.
This time, the focus would be on visual enhancements, but that doesn’t mean we won’t see novelties in other aspects. Expect to see the updated model sometime in the second half of next year.
2025 Nissan Leaf Drivetrain
Of course, this is the most interesting part of the car. The recent update has brought a new version, so there are two models in the offer. Standard Leaf comes with a 40-kWh battery pack, which ensures a max range of around 150 miles. The version has been introduced recently and features a bigger 62-kWh battery, which ensures a range of over 220 miles.
These are pretty respectable numbers, but there are rivals like Hyundai Kona EV and Kia Niro EV, which offer even longer ranges. We won’t be surprised if we see another version soon, with an even bigger battery pack in the offer. On the other side, we don’t expect bigger changes in terms of the electric motor. The 2025 Nissan Leaf should continue with the same output, which goes around 215 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque.
Exterior
While some recent updates were about technologies, the upcoming 2025 Nissan Leaf will probably focus on aesthetics. The current model looks good, but there is always enough room for improvements. We expect to see a little bit tweaked front end, which more up to date iteration of the brand’s famous V-Motion design language. The biggest changes should come in areas like the grille, front fascia, bumper, and headlights, etc. A couple of tweaks are possible on the other end as well, while those typical updates like new colors and wheels designs seem certain.
On the other side, base design characteristics will definitely remain the same. Some reports were suggesting that Nissan could possibly introduce some kind of a stretched version, with more legroom and cargo space, but that doesn’t sound very likely at the moment. Mechanics are expected to remain untouched.
Interior
On the inside, things should remain largely the same. The Leaf comes with a pretty nice interior. The overall quality is decent, though there are some areas with low-grade materials, which is pretty typical for electric cars. Still, the overall impression is okay, so we don’t believe that the Japanese carmaker will make too many changes in this update. Still, a couple of tweaks to the dashboard are possible.
On the other side, the overall design will remain unchanged. This car is characterized by a quite spacious cabin, which accommodates four adult passengers with ease. The cargo area is pretty generous. You can count on more than 23 cubic-feet behind rear seats, which is more compared to most compact cars.
We should see a couple of updates in terms of tech features. Updates of the infotainment system and a bigger touchscreen seem quite possible. New driver-assistance features are something we hope for, though we have to say that the current model is already pretty amazing in this aspect.
2025 Nissan Leaf Release Date and Price
Considering the update, the 2025 Nissan Leaf could come a little bit earlier than usual, though still within the second half of the next year. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect changes. Base models go around $30,000, while extended-range versions start at around $36,000.
